Recent Area Crimes

During the night of November 29/30, 2008 unknown persons broke into the Cash Factory, 366 Main Street and Culter's Jewellery 368 Main Street, Penticton. Entry was gained into the building by prying open a barred rear window. Once inside the thieves cut the wires to the telephone and the alarm system. They attempted but were unsuccessful at gaining entry into the Cash Factory safe. However they managed to remove and take a safe from Cutler's Jewellery that contained a quantity of watches, rings and loose unset diamonds for a total value of approximately $100,000.00. If you have any information about this crime you are asked to call Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS or leave a Tip Online. On the 21st of November, 2008 a Vernon woman was arrested in Penticton and was in possession of several items of jewellery. These items are in all likelihood proceeds from a residential break-in somewhere between Vernon and Penticton. If you have been a victim of a break-in and these items sound like they may be yours please contact Cst. Noel at Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300. The jewellery description is as follows: a small round gold jewellery container, a gold pendant with stones inside, a silver ring with stone, a gold and black ladies watch and a skull ring. During the early morning hours of October 25th 2008, three masked males entered a residence on South Main St. in Penticton, assaulted the lone male occupant demanding money and drugs. One of these males then shot the victim in the leg and left the residence with a small amount of cash, watch and and IPod. The police believe this was a targeted attack.
