Here, at the BC Fiddle 'Treat we are proud of the quality
of instruction provided. And, of course, the quality of instruction
is due, in large part, to the quality of instructor.
If you're familiar with our History, you're
familiar with some of the awesome musicians & teachers who have shared
their talents and knowledge with our students in the past. This year’s instructors to date are:

FIDDLE:

Gordon Stobbe former host of “Up Home Tonight”, Gord is becoming a household word in the fiddle communities across Canada. From his home in Nova Scotia to the West Coast of BC, his musical ability and teaching skills have inspired us all. We are delighted to have him back.

JJ Guy from Lintlaw Saskatchewan is back. JJ’s energy and talent were a big hit with the students. We are happy to add him to our roster again.

Patti Lamoureux Grand Masters Champion, judge and teacher, Patti has performed across the nation and brings a wealth of talent and experience to our camp.

Alex Lamoureux from Courtenay, is BC's 2009 fiddle champion and was a finalist at the Grand Masters last year. Alex has taught at the Pacific Fiddle Camp and will be returning to us again this year.

LEO READY, a well known BC fiddler returns for a second year. Leo has been a judge, performer, organizer, and competitor throughout BC and as far east as the Atlantic provinces.

CALVIN VOLLRATH teacher, performer, composer, recording artist, and a tireless promoter of Canadian Old Time Fiddling, Calvin is ranked among the best. We are proud to have him back again this year.

RANDY FOSTER ”the fiddling fireman” from Ontario is also back to share his talent, enthusiasm, and valuable teaching experience in a camp setting.

KEITH HILL from Surrey BC, is well known to the fiddle and bluegrass community. Keith was one of the instructors at the first BC Fiddle Treat and we are thrilled to have him back.

COLIN BUTCHART, a former student of the Fiddle Treat, has been teaching and performing in the Shuswap and Kamloops area as well attending fiddle camps to improve his skills. Welcome to our teaching team, Colin.

MIKE SANYSHYN is one of BC’s most recognized musicians. He is a strong supporter of the BC Fiddlers and our efforts to keep traditional fiddle music alive. Welcome back, Mike.

Piano:

CHARLOTTE LAPP from Prince George is a long time supporter of their fiddle club as well as our Fiddle 'treat. Once again she will share her experience as a back- up musician and teacher with our piano students.

SARA HART calls Quesnel home but currently teaches music and plays with the"Jeff Stuart and the Hearts" in Edmonton. Besides piano, she is skilled on guitar and is a very impressive fiddler.

Guitar:

GENE BRETECHER from Manitoba originally, now makes his home in Sorrento BC. Master of both the guitar and banjo, he has accompanied such stars as Reg Bouvette, and Roy Clark as well as shared his many skills with students around the province. Welcome back.

CRAIG MCGREGOR is a veteran at our camp, popular with both students and instructors. His dedication, talent and humor make him a valuable member the teaching team.

DOUG BORDEN Besides two years of teaching at Gavin Lake, Doug teaches backup guitar with the Young Prince George Fiddlers. He joins us again by popular demand.

MANDOLIN:

JIM BORDEN is a well known Prince George musician and instrument maker. This is his third year at Gavin Lake.
OTHER INSTRUCTORS WILL BE ADDED AS THEY ARE CONFIRMED.
Well ... there you have it - this year's very
impressive line-up! Regardless whether your instrument of choice is fiddle,
piano, guitar or mandolin ... we have the Instructors for you!
Note: It is advisable for beginner guitar students to know at least three basic chords (A, D and E).
