Prince George Youth Custody Center (PGYCC) is a co-ed facility, which opened in 1989. PGYCC's current capacity is 36 consisting of 12 Secure Custody and 24 Open Custody beds. Twelve of the Open Custody beds are located at Bowron House. Bowron is available for those residents willing to demonstrate a suitable level of personal responsibility and to engage in supervised community service. All youths admitted to the Center are between 12 and 18 years of age. Prince George is one of three secure custody centers in B.C. It is responsible for the custody arrangements for Northern B.C. and the Interior region. All programs at PGYCC have been developed to be consistent with the Mission Statement and Principles outlined as follows: Mission Statement The Prince George Youth Custody Center provides a healthy, supportive and rehabilitate environment within a safe a secure setting.
